First we got served a slice of nostalgia and history when we walked in, then the fellas warmly showed my husband, myself and four young grandsons what the lunch selections were . Lunch at the counter on the stools was a favorite, tasty , satisfying lunch and admiring the building made for a real treat!

I always seen your cabbage rolls on Facebook when you would sell them. They always looked yummy but would be sold out before I would get off work. My friend and her husband and myself we had our first time eating your cabbage rolls. They were so yummy... I will defintely be back and to try your other food too. Thanks Ann Brewer

This is a trip back to 1950. A small diner's with quick food. Hamburger, soup, pork tenderloin, chicken and dumplings. Furniture from the 60. Full bar. Go they to see a different standards. Go for cheap food. Go there for fast service. Go for a beer or drink. You will be impressed. Just be ready for a trip back into time. The kind of place you would expect teamster to be eating at in 1960.

Climb into your wayback machine and travel to the 1920s blue-collar lunch counter/neighborhood joint that is Falb's. This place has been operated by the same family since 1920!!!! I used to drive past this place a lot and its neon sign beckoned to me. The exterior really piqued my curiosity. My uncle used to own a joint like this, so it had a strange draw on me. I wondered what would happen if I stopped in; it looked dicey, maybe a little scary even, yet inviting. One day I took a friend & we lunched there (after reading about it in the local paper). It became a favorite lunch spot that I frequented at least once/week. The food is pre-made, cafeteria style. This isn't high-end dining, by any stretch of the imagination. But it is good, affordable food served quickly by friendly folks. The owner is a very kind, unassuming man who puts your order together on a tray while you wait. Some things they have every day, others are daily specials. It's all diner-food. Salisbury steak, meatloaf, mashed potatoes, onion rings, etc. Everything is pre-made & waiting for you, which is a draw if you're in a hurry - as I often am. They somehow manage to keep the fried stuff like onion rings crispy. There are diced onions, ketchup, horseradish, etc. on the counter in front of you so you can customize your food while you wait in line to pay. I used to mix ketchup, horseradish & relish to make a kind of cocktail sauce for my onion rings. That was always tasty! The cabbage rolls are only available one Friday each month in winter. They ALWAYS sell out before lunch is over, because they are truly the best you can find anywhere, even better than Charlie's or Amber Rose. The prices are so reasonable you can't even believe it. I can usually eat a full lunch for less than $7. There is extremely limited - and crowded - seating in front, but if you take your tray through the door to the left of the register you'll find loads of empty tables surrounded by decor that makes you feel like you're in a time warp.

This is a great historic eatery located just behind Pepsi on Kiser Street. They have various offerings each day of the week. Closed on weekends. First time I went I had the breaded chicken sandwich. It was very tasty. You can add whatever toppings/condiments you like. Second visit was today, which was cabbage roll day. These are served the 3rd Friday of each month. Ordered the dinner w/mashed potatoes & buttered bread. It was outstanding. Solid portion & excellent flavor. The service & hospitality here are second to none. It's easy to see why they've been in business since 1920. Plenty of parking as well. Definitely give it a go.
